SEIGNEURIE D'ARSE 2012, FITOU AOC, LANGUEDOC-ROUSSILLION, FRANCE
SAQ PRICE: $16,20
This wine is produced by Les Maîtres Vignerons de Cascastel. They are located in the Fitou Appelation in the Languedoc, a mountaneous wine region in the south of France. Along with the Clairette du Languedoc AOC, Fitou AOC is the oldest still wine appellation in the region. Les Maîtres Vignerons de Cascastel are a co-op of 100 extremely dedicated winemakers. To date, approximately 70% of their wine is produced on site and is sold either directly or through partners. L'objectifest de développernospartenariats avec l'ensemble de la distribution en étant à l'écoute de leursbesoins et en étant force de proposition dans un marché en évolution.
Their objective is to develop strong relationships with the entire distribution system, be attentive to their needs and be a recognizable force in the market.
This red wine is a blend of 20% Syrah, 40% Carignan and 40% Grenache.
In the glass, it is a brilliant ruby red color with nice thick legs.
It appears a little muted at first but with a few swirls, aromas of cherry yogurt chews, black wet earth, nutmeg, cinnamon and almond paste start tickling your nose.
Generous mouth feel, soft velvety tannins, spicy, lots of ripe black cherries and toasted ground almonds.
One of my go-to wines to accompany simple week-night meals like meat lasagna or even chicken and dried fruit tagine!
